Tryavna
Icon-Painting School Museum
The Icon Painting School Museum of Tryavna stands
at the heart of the Royal Chapel, which was built in 1943-1944 and given
to the town as a present by Queen Joanna. The museum has the only representative
collection of icons painted by famous Tryavna icon-painters between the
17th until the end of the 19th century. Over 160 icons represent the artistry
of 6 famous families of icon-painters. In addition the museum has an exhibition
of icon-painting instruments and instructions for painting in compliance
with the canons of Orthodox Christianity.
